The Board of Governors
We are very fortunate to have a really good
mix of governors at Holy Trinity with a wide experience base. The
governing body comprises of representatives from all interested parties; The
Church, parents, staff/children, local education authority and the local
community. The term of office is 3 years except for the foundation
governors which is 4 years. Various sub-committees allow in-depth
exploration of the many aspects of school life. Currently we have
sub-committees for Staffing & Curriculum, Ethos, Finance and Building/Health
and Safety. All governors are equal and the governing body acts as a
collective for decision making and shared responsibility.
Meetings are held each term when all the governors attend to monitor a
rolling programme of issues such as school management polices and
procedures. The school is also monitored by governors' visits with
each governor delegated an area of particular interest in the curriculum.
A formal written report is made on each visit and fed back to the full
meetings where the findings are discussed.
As Chair of the Governors I also attend termly briefings held by County
to hear the latest developments in government strategy and policy.
These are then fed back to the governors via our regular meetings. I
am also involved in the process of tracking pupil progress and meet with the
Head Teacher and School Improvement Partner for target setting for the SATs
test. The school's performance is closely monitored and discussed in
full at these meetings.
Holy Trinity pupils do very well both in terms of academic achievement
and their personal development. This was confirmed by the excellent
report of the Dec 03 Ofsted Inspection. The governing body and
teaching staff are very proud of the huge impact the children made on the
inspectors. What better reference could a school have than from the
children themselves?
All the governors and staff believe in working together. Please
help us by using our open door policy to discuss any issues. This is
your children's school. We want you to be, and feel, a part of it, and
we can then work together of the benefit of the children.
